Workshop Description and Delivery:
This virtual workshop series is designed for teachers who want to strengthen their understanding and practice of inquiry-based learning. Each session is 1h30 and can be attended as a stand-alone workshop or as part of the full series.
To receive the certificate of participation, teachers must complete the accompanying tasks.
Learning Outcomes:
Across the series, teachers will:
- Define inquiry and develop a common language.
- Explore practical strategies to foster inquiry in their classrooms.
- Experience modeled inquiry lessons and design their own.
Every session is hands-on, collaborative, and reflective, ensuring participants leave with practical ideas and tools ready to implement. Participants are required to open the microphone and use the camera.
Location: Online Time: 5pm- 6:30pm for all sessions
Session 1: Building Blocks of Inquiry: Language, Purpose and Practice | Thursday, September 25th 2025
- Guiding Question: What does inquiry look and sound like in our classrooms?
- Focus: Define inquiry, unpack its importance, and create a common language. Explore different types of inquiry.
- Certificate Task : Submit a visual summary of the session (mind map, sketchnote, or graphic organizer).
Session 2: Teaching that Asks Back: Living Inquiry in the Classroom | Thursday, October 9th 2025
- Guiding Question: How can I design learning experiences that nurture inquiry?
- Focus: Practical strategies to foster inquiry, including questioning techniques, provocations, scaffolding, and formative assessment.
- Certificate Task : Submit a written reflection identifying one strategy they will implement and explaining why.
Session 3: Lessons that Ask, Not Tell: Modelling Authentic Inquiry | Thursday, October 30th 2025
- Guiding Question: How do we model and plan for authentic inquiry?
- Focus: The facilitator will model two inquiry lessons (different age groups or subjects). Teachers will analyze, debrief, and adapt strategies for their own context.
- Certificate Task : Submit a lesson plan integrating inquiry strategies.
